In the first few months of life, breastmilk is the best option for a baby’s nutrition, and infants should start eating nourishing foods in addition the breastfeeding when they are about 6 months old. Processed foods (including infant formula) are terrible for the health of your child, and they should be avoided.

Crucial Importance of Good Infant Nutrition

As infants are growing, they frequently have rapid periods of growth. Their facial features, joints, bones, and organs are still developing. When their diet is filled with poor nutrition, disease is more common, a complete weakness of your child’s entire body, and children may actually have less beautiful facial features.

Infant Nutrition Overview

To start out, we will take a quick look at some of the most essential foods that your children, especially in the first few years of their life. These foods include: raw butter, raw milk, raw/rare/medium rare liver, raw eggs or barely cooked eggs with soft yolks, soup stocks rich in minerals (fish, chicken, beef, etc.), cooked or raw bone marrow, fish eggs, fermented or raw wild fish, raw/rare/medium rare lamb or beef, fermented vegetables, and fruit. Keep in mind that food from land animals should always come from animals that are grass fed, including the dairy foods. The seafood should be wild caught sources. These natural sources of food are much higher in nutrition than conventionally produced foods that are so common in most grocery stores.

There is an important fat-soluble activator group and activator X, which needs to be emphasised because it is so important in a child’s diet. Activator X can be obtained in fish eggs, yellow butter, lobster and crab organs, and in certain organs of animals from the spring, summer and fall time. Your child’s should be consuming a source of Activator X on a regular basis. Many of the foods which have been listed have fat-soluble activators, it is important to note that organs, bone marrow, and liver provide the body with vital nutrients. So, a child should be getting a minimum trio which is needed for optimal health: yellow butter, bone marrow, and liver, or another combination based on these other special foods.

Liver is Important for Infants and Children

When a child consumes grassfed liver, they are getting a great source of fat-soluble vitamins A and D, and minerals. Small portions of liver or high vitamin cod liver oil are great options when the child begins eating solid foods, because their nutritional value will go a long way.

Infant Diet Suggestions Starting at 6 Months+

Provide Your Child With Lots of Fat

“The most important nutrient for children are healthy fats. These fats help to provide immunity, development of the nervous system, and to protect them from micro-organisms.”

Recommended Foods

  • whole-milk kefir or yoghurt (grassfed)
  • raw, whole milk, slightly warmed (grassfed)
  • ghee
  • liver (organic)
  • bone broth based homemade soup
  • yellow butter (sources of yellow butter)

Other animal foods should be limited until after the child is at leaset 1 year of age.

Infants and Children Should Not Follow Low-Fat Diets

“Low fat diets have been linked to failure to thrive in children yet low-fat diets are often recommended for youngsters! Children need the many factors in butter and other animal fats for optimal development.”

Cereal and Grains Cannot be Digested By Infants

Young children have a very hard time digesting foods like breads, grains, and cereals. So, it wait until at least the age of one before giving them grains. Some sources actually suggest waiting even longer, until the age of two.

Before your children eat grains, the grains must be fermented and soaked. Thus, ”baby’s earliest solid foods should be mostly animal foods since his digestive system, although immature, is better equipped to supply enzymes for digestion of fats and proteins rather than carbohydrates.”

“Of all the food groups, grains are the most likely to cause digestive disturbances or allergies if they are not properly prepared. All grains should be soaked for at least 24 hours before cooking and then cooked at low heat for a long time. Bread should be natural sourdough bread, hopefully made in your own kitchen.” Cowan, T. Feeding Our Children

As you are following these nutritional guidelines, be sure that the foods are organic, natural, free of antibiotics, hormones and pesticides, and all animals should preferably have been  grassfed and allowed to roam. If foods are made in factories they should be avoided. For example, it is best to make your baby food at home.

Foods That Infants Should Not Eat

Cooked Egg Whites: “I mentioned that heating or cooking egg white renders it toxic. The yolk, however, is somewhat more stable, but even it is more nutrition when eaten raw or softly cooked.”

Avoid Up to 6 months: Certain foods which are high in nitrate, including collard greens, turnips, radishes, lettuce, celery, and spinach. The nitrate in these foods can be converted within the body into nitrite (an unwanted substance). Leafy green vegetables should be avoided until the child is at least 1 year. If you have cooked these vegetables, do not add the water that they were cooked in to purée with other foods.

Avoid Up to 9 months: Tomato and citrus, both of them are common allergens.

Avoid up to 1 year: Honey should be avoided, beecause the stomach acid is not strong enough to deactivate potential spores. Truthfully, more research needs to be done on this topic, however this is not likely the case.
