Eckhart Tolle
Author of the Power of Now
And A New Earth

The highly popular spiritual growth books, A Power of Now, and a New Earth, by Eckhart Tolle help point us in the direction of this moment.

So how can you use the present moment to create health for your children?

In Eckart’s books, he calls part of our mind and consciousness destructive. He refers to this mind as the “egoic mind.” A more clear word I prefer to use for the destructive mind is “lower self.” The lower self refers to denser and lower energy vibrations. The ego also has good facets about it. So our goal is not necessarily to destroy the ego, but to heal the ego so that we can transcend it, or be without it if we want to. Our inner destructive self created this world of duality and separateness. And at the same time, our transcended / higher self also exists in this world, which is represented by our capacity to love and be present for our children.

Back to the lower self, or egoic mind as Eckhart would call it. The lower self has energy currents running in non-divine directions. As a result its manifestations are negative. Eckhart wrote:

“The collective egoic mind is the most dangerously insane and destructive entity to inhabit this planet.”

“By the end of the century, the number of people who died a violent death at the hands of their fellow humans would rise to more than one hundred million.”

Ancient religious teachings show us that “the ‘normal’ state of mind of most human beings contains a strong element of what we might call dysfunction or even madness.”

What happens with this inner madness is that it effects how we raise our children. It dilutes our thinking with false truths. It compels us to make bad choices for our children’s health.

Part of our mind is in a state of illusion. Eckhart explains:

“The Mind is Maya” Maya is the veil of delusion.

“According to the Buddha, the human mind in its normal state generates dukkha, which can be translated as suffering, unsatisfactoriness, or just plain misery.”

“Ultimately, what we perceive as external reality or the world is an outward reflection of our state of consciousness.”

If this is true, then certainly it is possible that what you have believed about health and disease could also be apart of this maya?

In Healing Our Children I propose that we are not victims of disease. But that we are victims of our lower nature, our egoic mind. And that this negativity compels us to make poor and destructive choices for our children’s health. We make these choices unknowingly. We make these choices because of the veil of illusion. Healing Our Children lifts the veil of illusion, so you can see more clearly beyond the egoic self, into the realm of true health and disease. Because as Eckhart writes, ultimately:

“True power is within, and it is available to you now”
