Today’s modern world is filled with environmental toxins and other elements that are difficult for us to wholly escape. However, the people who are most vulnerable to the affects of these toxins are our children, because their bodies are still growing forming every day. Children who are still growing in the womb are actually the most susceptible to being overloaded with toxins, mainly because they don’t have a filtration system in place yet to help them deal with toxins that are come through the bodies of their mothers. Toxins within a mother’s system are shared with the developing baby.

It is difficult to completely avoid these environmental toxins, but it is possible to dramatically improve the health of yourself and your children by avoiding toxic elements as much as possible during the preconception and pregnancy periods of development. These toxins can be avoided if you focus on having a toxin-free home by decreasing toxic substances as much as you possibly can.dandelion

The Toxic Buildup in Newborn Babies

Even though it may seem that a child is just starting their life when they are born, his or her body has actually been through quite a bit as they have already dealt with a large amount of environmental toxins which have entered the baby’s body through the food and environmental factors that the mother was exposed to. These toxins can build up within the baby, and they actually show up in the form of mucus that plugs the mouth and nose, which can make it difficult for the baby to take its first breath. Toxic buildup is also often present in the form of meconium, which is often considered a sign of health when the baby eliminates it in within the first few days of life.

It is interesting to note that no other mammals have meconium in their newborns, because there aren’t any other animals which are exposed to the high amounts of environmental toxins while in the womb. Even though our culture considers meconium and mucus to be a normal and natural part of the newborn process, the truth is nothing natural about these things that happen to a new baby. As a matter of fact, when these signs are present, it means that there is toxic build up that the baby has already experienced before they even enter the world!

When a child is in the womb, they are greatly affected by the mothers chemistry and lifestyle. If it is toxic internal chemistry, the baby may be sick when it is born. The first line of defense of the baby is the mothers liver, and in a perfect world the liver should be able to filter all of the toxins that the mother and baby were exposed to. However, in today’s modenr world, the mother’s liver is usually not able to live up to the task of filtering out these toxins because of the large amount of toxins that are present, so the placenta filters out some of the toxins. When the environment is very toxic, the baby’s liver will be forced to to filter toxic blood, and then the kidneys of the baby will need to do the same thing. This role is very taxing on these tiny babies because the organs are still developing, which is the reason an unborn baby can be born sick!
