seaside 14Looking at the human body from a basic chemical and biological viewpoint, it can be seen that they are perfectly created organisms by nature. Each element of the body such as the cells, the heart, and the DNA, operate both individually and as a whole system together. One example is a point that was made by Nobel Prize winner Alex Carrel (1912), who observed the structure and details of a microscopic slice of chicken heart. The slice was stored in a solution that was nutrient rich, and the solution was replaced daily… the cells lived for 29 years. The only reason that it died was because an assistant forgot to rinse the cells. Based on the results of this experiment, Dr. Carrel postulated:

The cell is immortal. It is merely the fluid in which it floats which degenerates. Renew this fluid . . . and . . . the pulsation of life may go on forever.

We find this observation confirmed in ordinary anatomy textbooks as well.

If the concentration [of fluid outside the cell] changes, so as to contain too much or too little of these [nutrients], the cells will become sick and act abnormally and eventually begin to die.

Dr. Albert V. Szent-Gyorgyi also won a Nobel Prize, this award was granted in 1937 because he discovered vitamin C. If the cell is created in perfect form, he wondered, then why and how do we experience disease and get sick?

Should then, man be the only imperfect creature kept alive in the face of all his imperfections only by means created by his own mind? If not, where do all these ailments come from?

To phrase this a different way, if the cell was created with the potential for immortality, then situations such as illness, disease, and death might originate from somewhere else. Dr. Szent-György postulated that the source could be from our own minds. Dr. Szent-György is not the only person to suggest to some extraphysical source of suffering, illness, and disease.

The Yellow Emperor’s Classic on Internal Medicine. This ancient Chinese work was translated, and we can read about how the Yellow Emperor inquired to his health minister, Ch’I Po, in regards to the true nature of illness and disease. Why is it, he asked, that people in the past have lived to an old age with excellent health, and in our current world now people only live to half of that age and during that time unhealthy and become weak? Ch’I Po responds by saying that people in ancient times understood the “Tao” (the way of being) and patterned their lives and daily habits after the “Yin and Yang,” which are believed to be the two divine principles of creation— both feminine and masculine—whose existence is reflected in nature. Ch’I Po went on to explain how people exhaust their vital energy forces by participatin in overly stimulating and reckless behaviors. One example of this is having sex while intoxicated. In our modern world, excessively stimulating behaviors could come from a number of daily activities that we participate in, such as eating sweets in large quantities, watching too much television, and participating in other forms of worldly stimulation such as high risk sports. These activites are acting as a replacement for feeling alive. Ch’I Po goes on further to explain that the gratification cravings that are experienced in the senses dissipate one’s true essence. It happens mainly because people in the modern world have forgotten how to look within themselves to find contentment; instead, they devote focus on amusement of their mind which requires all of their attention, thus cutting themselves off from Being, and the true joys and happiness in life.

Best-selling author of the book The Power of Now and A New Earth, Eckhart Tolle, labeled this this form of collective dysfunction and calls it the egoic mind. It the “my” or “me” story that we all create in our mind. It is a construction and mental image of ourselves which is produced by the mind. Even though it is not real, the image has evolved out of a pseudo solution which we use to deal with a world in which is lacking in the love and compassion that we didn’t receive as infants and children. Many people experience most of their lives through this chaotic mind energy and they are constantly lost in thought. In this fantasty world, people are trying to add more to expand and create the story of themselves, instead of really living and experiencing life in it’s fullest. The predicament of human living is that many of us are constantly thinking all the time, without really living. It is almost like some other energy or entity has taken over our mind. It is this egoic mind that has caused us and the planet to be inflicted with suffering. It is suggested that this portion of the mind is the reason that wars start, because negative energy feeds this false self. The state of identifying with the voice in your head is thought to be a state of suffering. The voice in this part of the mind, creates suffering and has resulted in suffering and unhealed internal strife which most people have buried away deep within themselves. If you are reading this and you hear a voice or have a thought that says to you, “There is no such voice,” that is exactly the voice, and the energy that is a part of this life-denying self.
